Artist Hernán Rivera Luque takes us through his studio supported by a partnership with the P.S.122 Painting Space Residency in the LES.
Hernan's unique process of cutting and pasting lends beautiful melting forms, abstracted yet familiar of something we might have seen in a magazine or on a subway poster. The vinyl fragments, printed with textures of fabric, makeup products, plastic, and skin, arrange themselves into a patchwork that explodes with references.

The artist relates his process of dismantling and decoding mass-produced images with the current interpretation and reinvention of the Spanish language. The language changes, adapts and mutates, accommodating itself to its new context. And this also happens in his creations, where he acts as a kind of channel for the language of the media.
