Ben Walker | June 2020

We discovered Walker’s work through Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2019 - the renowned UK yearly show for emerging contemporary art - and have been following his work since. Predominantly working in small size oil linens, Walker translates in realistic but decidedly light brush-strokes, his interest in a distinct era of British culture and TV programs and films, that of the ’70s and ’80s. With film settings that draw heavily on relationships to the rural landscape, his subjects are intentionally presented as half-remembered impressions.

Ben Walker received his MA Fine Art Drawing from the Wimbledon School of Art, London. He has exhibited widely in the UK, also acting as a curator, and was the recipient of the Jack Goldhill Painting Prize in 2012.

Ben Walker (1974 Chester, UK) lives and works in Kent.
